About

Our vision & mission

The Islamic Association for Outreach and Guidance is a voluntary outreach body in Qalansawe. It works to teach the Islamic sciences plainly, to strengthen the town’s connection to the Qur’an and the Prophet’s example, and to serve the community in its mosques and at its occasions.
The Association holds evening talks and classes in the town’s mosques; the Nur al-Bayan project for memorising and understanding the Qur’an; an annual course in the fiqh of Hajj for the town’s pilgrims; seasonal outreach campaigns; and competitions for the town’s young people. The Athar youth committee grew out of it, and it works with the mosque committees on the convoys to al-Aqsa Mosque.
Voluntary work offered for the sake of God. Everyone in Qalansawe and the surrounding area is welcome.

Vision

A community alive in its faith, bound to its Lord, drawing its guidance from the pure springs of the religion.

Mission

We seek to revive the faith in people’s hearts, to call them to the worship of God, to build the resolve to work for the religion, and to reform society through education and outreach — understanding our circumstances, diagnosing their ills, and treating them by the guidance of Islam.

Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction
— Surat al-Nahl, 16:125

Programs

Our Programmes

  • Evening Talks

Talks and lectures given by visiting scholars in the town’s mosques, held after the sunset or night prayer, with dates announced in advance. Open to men and women alike.
  • The Nur al-Bayan Project

A weekly circle for memorising the Qur’an and studying its meaning, held at al-Faruq Mosque. Open to anyone who wants to take up the Qur’an, with no prior level required.
  • The Fiqh of Hajj Course

An annual course for the town’s pilgrims covering the rites and their etiquette, followed by a gathering to see the pilgrims off and to welcome them home.
  • Convoys to al-Aqsa

Coaches to al-Aqsa Mosque run by the mosque committees of Qalansawe, most frequent during Ramadan and the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah.
  • Outreach Campaigns

Seasonal campaigns that gather a series of classes and discussions around a single theme, such as “I only intend reform” and “God has forbidden usury”.
  • Competitions

Competitions for the young people of the town — among them the “Muhammad is my example” competition and the finest call to prayer — closing with an award ceremony.
